At the end of the trip, the driver will manually enter the metered fare into their Uber app. We’ll automatically add a 20% gratuity on the metered fare, and charge your credit card on file. Give the driver the thumbs up, and get on with your day. As with all Uber experiences, no transaction will take place in the vehicle (and no cash should ever exchange hands).

Please keep in mind, Uber does not set rates on our taxi service. We simply act as a reservation system for you to acquire a taxi. For more info on how the city of Chicago charges in a taxi, please click here.

Suburb Rates in TAXI
From the city of Chicago: "TRIPS TO SUBURBS: The rate of fare is STRAIGHT METER to the city limits PLUS ONE-HALF the STRAIGHT METERED FARE from the city limit to the suburban destination."
